Humanity assumed its terrestrial station, Described in the Quran Adam, The First Human, and Bani-Adam, the First Community, on Earth

Abstract

The inauguration at the making of the first human, Adam, and the covenant all humans took with God are the two most influential events in human biography as vicegerent on earth, the former informing the Islamic worldview in all its disciplines and personal behaviours, from politics to ecology, the latter depicting the belief system. These events were categorically celebrated in the Divine presence, their narrations found at several places in the Quran, though in piecemeal, each part resonant with its context. As expected, it is customary for the parts to be pieced together in the Quranic exegeses; however, a few turns in the story remain in shade such as to demand it retold. In its re-telling, this work hosts numerous findings, some new, others diverging from convention, most impacting the lessons drawn. This essay aims at recapturing the events mostly in the light of the Quran itself.
